Which Grobag is best for baby?

At this time of year, with summer (hopefully) coming, and people planning their holidays, we often get asked about the different types of Grobags available.  So here goes, everything you every needed to know about Grobag baby sleep bags!

Baby sleep bags are brilliant because baby can’t kick off the covers or slip down into them.  Its also easy to put them back in their cot without waking them and you don’t need anything else on top of them – so no extra blankets needed.

Authentic Gro company Grobags come in three different tog ratings, to suit different climates and temperatures.  (As well as a whole range of impossibly cute styles!)

2.5 tog – All Year Round, for standard room temperatures of 16-20 degrees celcius (61-68F)

1.0 tog – Summer and Daytime Naps, warmer weather and in rooms of 21-23 degrees celcius (69-74F)

0.5 tog – Holidays & Heatwaves, hot weather and very warm rooms 24-27 degrees celcius (75-81F)

Other factors also determine the tog rating of baby sleep bag that should be used.  These include the number of clothes your baby is wearing, the temperature of their bedroom and your baby’s health.

Here in Ireland a 2.5 tog Grobag is generally perfect for all year round use, in an average home.  However, you'll know yourself if you have a particuarly warm room (maybe south facing) or if you have a warm baby, you may want to switch to a lighter 1 Tog Grobag in warmer weather.

If you are lucky enough to be planning holidays to warmer climes, you might want to think about swopping for a 1 tog Grobag while you are away.  If your baby is already used to sleeping in Grobags its probably best not to break that association and routine!

We have both 2.5 tog and 1 tog Grobags in stock now, so if you’re not sure whats best to use do pop in or give us a call!  Every Grobag comes with its own room thermometer for added peace of mind, and we also have lots of copies of the Safe Sleep Guide booklet free to take away.

Happy Sleeptimes!
